Rackspace Technology, KDDI and iret, Inc Deliver Managed Service for Private Clouds in Japan

Tokyo – June 24, 2021 – Rackspace Technology® (NASDAQ: RXT), a leading end-to-end, multicloud technology solutions company, is proud to announce in conjunction with KDDI Corporation and iret, Inc. the availability of the Rackspace Private Cloud powered by VMware as an optional KCPS bare metal server service for the KDDI Cloud Platform Service (the“ KCPS ”), a cloud service for corporate customers.

With this option, KDDI, Rackspace Technology and iret, Inc. provide unified support for a monthly fee on behalf of customers who design, build, maintain, and operate private cloud infrastructure, thereby reducing the operational burden on customers.

Background
・As the use of 5G and IoT increases, the use of private cloud services is expanding, and the average annual growth rate of the domestic private cloud market from 2019 to 2024 is expected to remain at 28.6%. (October 2020、IDC Japan)
・While an increasing number of companies are choosing proprietary servers with a high degree of freedom in cloud design while ensuring their own security, many corporate customers say that it is difficult to establish and operate all of the virtual infrastructures on their own.
・As teleworking has become common in recent years, more and more companies are adopting multi-cloud systems to deal with expanding communication volumes and communication bandwidth. However, since different environments, such as multi-cloud and hybrid cloud, are operating separately, operational issues unique to complex environments, such as operational efficiency and securing engineers, have become apparent.

About this Option
・KDDI design, build and operate VMware virtual infrastructure to reduce the operational burden on customers.
・In addition to reporting on resource utilization and disaster response on a monthly basis, this option provides peace of mind as you can quickly migrate to a new host when a physical host is no longer supported.
・Customers using both public cloud AWS and private cloud VMware will also be able to use managed services in one stop by combining Service Blocks for AWS with this option.

The KDDI Group will promote the fusion of communications and life design, and as a “Company that contributes to the sustainable growth of society,” we will contribute to the business of corporate customers and create new experiential values.
